Environment, Conservation and Technology
Environment, Conservation and Technology are the themes of international conferences to be held in Hobart from August to September 1988. These themes are depicted in the 1988 Australian Antarctic Territory stamp issue. Hour-glass dolphins, which live in schools of 6 to 40, are seen with the Antarctic ship Nella Dan on her last voyage; emperor penguins, the largest of the penguins, are shown against a background formed by Australia's Davis Station; a crabeater seal is featured with helicopters in the distance; gregarious adelie penguins are pictured with tracked over-snow vehicles; and a grey-headed albatross which nests in the sub-Antarctic, is shown being photographed from a distance.
